Day 1: Journey to the North | Arrival & Sunset at Jaffna Fort

AYUBOWAN & VANAKKAM! Welcome to your northern heritage expedition. Today, your private driver will pick you up early for a scenic journey heading north along the iconic A-9 highway, traveling past historic plains and salt flats into the Jaffna Peninsula.

Arrive in Jaffna town by late afternoon and check into your hotel. We will begin our exploration with a late-afternoon walk along the massive colonial ramparts of the star-shaped Jaffna Fort, exploring its Portuguese and Dutch bastions while capturing panoramic views of the golden lagoon sunset. Conclude your evening experiencing an authentic Jaffna crab curry or South Indian vegetarian dining experience.

Day 2: Jaffna Peninsula Islands | Nainativu (Nagadeepa) & Remote Delft Island Adventure

Today we head out to the Kurikadduwan Jetty to experience Jaffna’s iconic, remote islands by local ferry. Our first stop is Nainativu Island (Nagadeepa), an incredible site of religious harmony hosting the vibrant, multi-colored Nagapooshani Amman Hindu Kovil and the sacred Buddhist Nagadeepa Purana Viharaya.

Next, we venture further out to Delft Island, a surreal, untouched landscape famous for its wild ponies, massive African Baobab trees left by Arab merchants, and unique fences constructed entirely out of natural coral stone. After a raw look into island life, we cruise back to the mainland for a relaxed evening in town

Day 3: Sacred Temples, Healing Springs & "World-Famous" Rio Ice Cream

Spend the day exploring the spiritual and historical pillars of the peninsula. We start by driving north to visit the ancient Keerimalai Sacred Water Springs, a natural seaside pool believed to have therapeutic healing powers, located directly next to the historic Naguleswaram Shiva Temple. On our return, we will stop at the mysterious Kadurugoda Archaeological site to witness ancient coral-stone stupas.

In the afternoon, we visit the magnificent, golden Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil to witness an authentic, rhythmic evening Hindu prayer ceremony (Pooja). Cap off your cultural day with a mandatory stop at the iconic Rio Ice Cream Parlour for a sweet, legendary Jaffna treat.

Day 4: Jaffna Market Marvels | Public Library Walk & Departure

Enjoy your final morning exploring the heart of Jaffna's local community. We will take a walking tour around the majestic, neo-Mughal architectural marvel of the Jaffna Public Library—once one of Asia's largest literary collections.

Before leaving the peninsula, explore the vibrant, yellow-hued Jaffna Vegetable Market. This is your perfect opportunity to sample and pack authentic northern souvenirs, including sweet Palmyra palm jaggery, specialized Jaffna spice blends, and the world-famous sweet Jaffna mangoes. Your private driver will then comfortably transfer you back down the A-9 highway toward Colombo or the international airport to catch your departure flight.
