Check into your forest eco-lodge or luxury tented camp nestled near the park's entrance. In the late afternoon, enjoy a introductory orientation drive through the rustic buffer-zone lanes bordering the park's edge. Gather around a campfire in the evening for a technical briefing from your resident naturalist on sloth bear behavioral patterns, dietary habits, and tracking techniques before your early dawn deployment.

Day 02: Wilpattu National Park | Dawn-to-Dusk Sloth Bear & Leopard Safari

An intense wildlife day begins before dawn as we enter Wilpattu National Park in a customized 4x4 safari jeep. Wilpattu’s extensive network of natural rainwater basins creates a perfect habitat for sloth bears and leopards.

Our expert tracker will bypass the busier tracks, driving deep into the northern sectors like Panikkawila and Manikkapola Udawila. We will actively scan canopy-edges for bears feeding on sweet wild fruits and look for fresh excavations around large termite mounds. After a packed picnic lunch deep inside the reserve, we spend the golden afternoon hours patrolling isolated waterholes where these reclusive, dark-furred mammals venture out to drink, offering world-class photography opportunities.

Day 03: Wilpattu to Wasgamuwa | High-Density Bear Territory Safari

We take an efficient cross-country drive this morning from the north-west plains down toward the pristine wilderness of Wasgamuwa National Park—a hidden gem boasting a remarkably high concentration of sloth bears.

In the afternoon, embark on an exclusive 4x4 safari drive through the rugged grasslands and dense scrub forests of Wasgamuwa. Because this park sees far fewer tourist jeeps compared to the southern reserves, you will experience a raw, undisturbed environment. Monitor the thick forest fringes as sloth bears emerge alongside wild elephants, langurs, and axis deer to forage along the riverbanks and rocky outcroppings before returning to your wilderness lodge.

Day 04: Wasgamuwa Nature Walk | Return via Capital to Airport

Wake up early for a guided nature walk along the park's scenic perimeter, observing the rich morning birdlife and looking for fresh claw marks left by foraging bears on forest tree trunks.

Following breakfast, we begin our return journey back toward the west coast.
