Day 1: Arrival & Journey to the Wilds | Wilpattu Border Relaxation

AYUBOWAN! Welcome to your premier wildlife expedition. Upon arriving at the Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), you will be met by your professional wildlife tour driver-guide.

We immediately head north-west along a highly efficient route via Puttalam to the borders of Wilpattu National Park. After checking into your eco-lodge or luxury safari campsite nestled near the park, day one is dedicated to winding down. Enjoy a peaceful evening listening to the calls of the wild, dining by a campfire, and preparing for an early morning deep inside the predator-dense forest.

Day 2: Wilpattu National Park | Full-Day Leopard & Sloth Bear Tracking Safari

An action-packed day awaits as we enter Wilpattu National Park before dawn in a rugged, open-top 4x4 safari jeep. Wilpattu's unique ecosystem of natural sand-rimmed water basins (villus) makes it a prime habitat for the iconic Sri Lankan Leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) and the highly elusive Sri Lankan Sloth Bear.

Our expert tracker will target known territories, patrolling forest clearings and water margins where leopards love to sunbathe and sloth bears forage for termites and sweet palu fruit. After a picnic lunch inside the park, we continue our tracking drive into the late afternoon, capturing stunning photography of spotted deer, mugger crocodiles, and striking forest raptors before returning to the lodge.

Day 3: Wilpattu to Minneriya | Wild Elephant Gathering Safari

We take a scenic cross-country drive from the northwestern plains to the north-central wildlife hub of Habarana/Minneriya, a transition zone teeming with majestic megafauna.

In the afternoon, embark on a 4x4 safari drive into Minneriya National Park (or nearby Kaudulla/Eco-Park, dynamically chosen based on seasonal herd movements). Here, you will witness the world-renowned wild Asian Elephant experience. Watch as massive herds, including playful calves, congregate around the ancient reservoirs to drink, bathe, and socialize against a stunning open grassland sunset.

Day 4: Habarana to Colombo | Wilderness Bird Watching & Capital Transition

Wake up to a crisp morning for a guided nature walk and bird-watching excursion around the scenic lakes and ancient forest canopies of Habarana, home to over a hundred species of colorful endemic and migratory birds.

Following breakfast, we journey back down toward the commercial capital, Colombo. In the evening, enjoy a relaxed drive through the city highlights or a sunset stroll along Galle Face Green to celebrate the completion of your jungle expeditions, followed by a premium dinner featuring local culinary delicacies.

Day 5: Colombo to Airport | Final Keepsakes & Departure

Enjoy your final morning on the island. Depending on your flight departure time, you can utilize the morning for any last-minute souvenir shopping or picking up world-class Ceylon tea in the capital.

Your private driver will then provide a prompt, comfortable transfer via the airport expressway to the Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) for your departure flight home, carrying incredible photos and memories of Sri Lanka’s apex predators and magnificent giants.
